Ella Catley-Crawford of Lota, Queensland, has sadly died. Tragically, ELLA Catley-Crawford, the sister and best friend to so many in her community, Julie Crawford’s lovely 12-year-old daughter, killed herself. Ella, who was a cherished 12-year-old niece and cousin, passed away abruptly. Particularly for Julie, who lost her only kid, her best friend, and the love of her life, so many in their community are heartbroken and numb.
12-year-old Ella was intelligent, eccentric, and faced unfathomable obstacles. Her happiness was fleeting as she began the year with an academic scholarship to a prominent Brisbane girls’ school. She fell victim to a vicious catfishing plot after just one term, which was planned by girls who took advantage of her weakness. They posted her private images on social media, which resulted in bullying, social exclusion, and the beginning of a challenging journey toward mental health as she tried to blend in.
Sadly, Ella killed herself on October 27th because she believed she was the issue. As a testament to her kind nature, Ella was able to give others the gift of life by donating her organs through Donate Life as her last act of charity.
The community requesting assistance from our community during this trying time. In addition to supporting Julie, Ella’s mother, who need time off work to recuperate and pursue rehabilitation, the community wish to provide Ella a respectable funeral. They are requesting your compassion and kindness during this difficult time, as no parent should have to organize their child’s burial. All donations will be used to cover Ella’s funeral expenses, and 10% will also be donated to programs that prevent suicide in order to support those who might be in need. They want to honor Ella’s memory by changing things so that no one has to go through what she did.
