Liz Agosto, a Dartmouth College colleague, passed away unexpectedly on October 31, she was a remarkable colleague and a fervent supporter of undergraduate students, and everyone who had the honour of knowing her remembers her with appreciation.
Liz felt motivated to give back to Dartmouth after earning her bachelor’s degree in sociology there in 2001. She returned to Dartmouth as the student involvement program coordinator six years after graduating, and the following year she was elevated to assistant director of the Centre for Student Involvement. In 2011–12, she was the college dean’s special assistant. From 2013–2019, she was the senior associate dean of student affairs.
In 2009, Liz was a part of the creation of the First Year Student Enrichment Program, which began as a way to pair first-generation students with student mentors and has since developed into a crucial component of New Student Orientation.
As a first-generation student, she said she wishes she had access to FYSEP during her college studies. Additionally, she was a member of the Student Presidential Committee on Sexual Assault and the Presidential Steering Committee for Sexual Misconduct, whose emphasis on enhancing school culture sparked the development of the Sexual Violence Prevention Program. Liz was an alumna who served on the Alumni Council and facilitated communication between Alumni Relations and Student Affairs.
